C&M Homestead Hard Red Winter Wheat

Our hard red winter wheat is locally grown in Brown County, South Dakota, raised and handled using traditional, old-fashioned grain methods. This wheat is planted, harvested, threshed, and sifted by hand, taking the time to do it right instead of relying on modern shortcuts.

Each batch is carefully cleaned to remove chaff and debris while preserving the integrity of the whole kernel. The grain is sold whole and unprocessed, allowing bakers and millers full control over how it’s used—whether for fresh-milled flour, sourdough bread, or traditional baking.

Hard red winter wheat is valued for its strong gluten structure, consistent performance, and rich, nutty flavor, making it a dependable grain for rustic loaves and long fermentation baking.
